GGG V Canelo Alverez
This truly is the best v the best, both fighters are in most people’s top 5 pound for pound lists.
GGG has ruled the 160lb division since cotto beat a crippled Sergio Martinez a few years back.
Canelo has won titles and 147, 154 and beat cotto and 160lbs
Most people a year ago would have had GGG a stone cold favourite, but tighter victories over our won kel brook and especially Danny Jacobs have narrowed the odds.
Personally I still make GGG, I slight favourite as I’ve never seen punching power like that before, his knockout highlight reel is something else.
Now that mzyweather v McGregor is out the way, we can look forward to this.
Who have you got to win and why?

I say GGG, because he's a right hard bastard.

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
2 years ago, Golovkin comfortably. He's clearly on the decline, but I still have him as slight favourite purely because he's a monster at the weight, and Canelo has fought mostly at lower weights.

What a fight, though.

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
i really think this has the capacity to be a modern classic ..

We're definatly due one.

GGG is getting older no doubt, but he has hardly taken no punishment ,

Maybe these will fight each other two or three times , all depends on ow competitive this one is.

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
I fancy the Duracell to win this. Golovkin's a good champion but he's very easy to hit as proved in the Brook fight, and Alvarez hits much harder. Golovkin is very durable though and may continue walking through shots like Hagler used to. I just think the younger fighter is still improving and i think he has enough power to come out on top

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
thats a very fair prediction Mike ... never really seen Canelos chin checked tho to be fair, he's not beein in there with a big hitter.

that said, I cant see him being Amir Kahn tho in all fairness

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
Longford, that's why I made the Hagler reference in regard to Golovkin. he may well just walk through whatever Alvarez throws at him, it'll be a great fight

Golovkin a gent enough to wish him good luck.

That's a bloke with no fear whatsoever.

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
Golovkin's hard to hurt, his toughness reminds me of Hagler. the one big difference between him and Marvin though is MMH already had over fifty fights before he won the world title so any arguments about Golovkin's age are for me not relevant. one thing I have noticed though is he can be easy to hit and Ginge does have a lot of power. Its whether he can withstand Golovkin's power that may be the deciding factor, I can see Canelo get a decent early lead but its whether the true middleweight will just have too much strength late on? I take Ginge to win narrowly on points

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
I love Golovkin and hope he wins, but my head is slightly favouring Alvarez. Golovkin hasn't looked convincing in his last couple of fights and appears to be in decline, whereas Alvarez is absolutely prime. Alvarez on points.

I was at the GGG Jacobs fight in NYC, thought Jacobs deserved it. I wasn't overly impressed with GGG.
Hope canelo wins.

As a fellow HAMMER I'm backing GGG but I think Canelo could well take this on points.

I think he is catching GGG at just the right time.
